The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), an organization dedicated to best practices in professional publishing, has announced the launch of the “SOPA 2010 Awards for Editorial Excellence”. This year’s awards will include a new category for “Multimedia News Presentation” to recognize the use of online interactive graphics, photography, audio and video in journalism and the publishing industry.

致力推廣專業出版業界最佳實務的機構亞洲出版業協會﹝SOPA﹞，宣佈舉辦「2010年度卓越新聞獎」。為配合出版業的新趨勢，「2010年度卓越新聞獎」首次增設「多媒體新聞」類別，鼓勵新聞及出版業界運用互動圖像、攝影、音訊及錄像所作的創新多媒體新聞報導。

The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) will host its inaugural “SOPA Media Summit 2009” under the theme “The Future of Publishing – New Platforms, New Technologies, New Models” at the China World Hotel, Beijing from November 19-20, 2009.

At a special gala dinner presentation at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) honoured 89 outstanding journalists in the annual SOPA Awards for Editorial Excellence. Special guest Mr. Jimmy Lai, Chairman of Next Media Ltd. was interviewed live in front of nearly 300 senior media executives, editors, journalists and industry peers from across the Asia Pacific region.

The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), an organisation dedicated to best practices in professional publishing, has elected Mr. Terence Tung as the Chairman and Ms. Christina Lee as the Deputy Chairman. Mr. Tung takes over the helm from Mr. Alan Lammin who has stepped down following his retirement as Publishing Director of TIME Asia.

The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), in conjunction with SPH Magazines (SPH Magazines Pte Ltd), will run the first SOPA Media Insiders Seriesin Singapore on 3 December 2008. This regional event, entitled “Making Waves with Breakthrough Research: A Stakeholder Forum”, will be held at SPH Media Centre Auditorium.

The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) announced today the winners of its 2008 awards for Editorial Excellence. Winners were selected in 17 categories for English language media and Chinese language media. On its tenth anniversary, the SOPA Editorial awards received a record 629 entries from leading publications across the region. The 82 judges comprised respected journalists, editors and academics from top national and regional media and top universities in the world.
